Archive grading

A–E describes source type and archive-handling priority. It is not a true-or-false score for a file or the claims inside it.

  • ADirect publisher or official first-party material
A description of the source type, not certification that every statement in it is true.
  • BGovernment, court, legislature or international-body record
A formal public-record type; its evidentiary scope still needs to be read carefully.
  • CResearch, investigation or multi-source synthesis
A research material that should be read with its sources and method.
  • DNews reporting and contemporary media record
Can document reporting and public reaction; it does not necessarily complete independent verification.
  • EParty statement, online circulation or material awaiting verification
Requires especially clear labels for source, claim and missing independent evidence.
